Lagoon 380

Lagoon 380

The Lagoon 380 is a French sailing yacht designed by Van Peteghem/Lauriot-Prevost as a cruiser and also for yacht charter. It was first built in 1999.
It is the best-selling cruising catamaran in history. The design was built by Jeanneau’s Lagoon catamaran division of Jeanneau in France and was the smallest catamaran in their product line.

The Lagoon 380 is offered in both owner and charter versions and the differences are minimal; the owner’s cabin occupies the entire hull to starboard with a full bathroom forward, a large berth aft and an office amidships while the charter features identical layout on both hulls with four cabins (two per hull) and two shared bathrooms amidships. Again, stowage capacity is great with plenty of locker space. The main salon is 1.95m high and comfortably accommodates eight people around the table with more stowage space under the seats. The galley layout puts the cook at the center of the social activity and the sliding glass door connects the galley and cockpit in an instant.

The chart table is next to the helm station for easy communication. Aside from the fold-down seat, there is very little to lean against in rough seas and the helm area seems a bit makeshift in the overall saloon scheme.

EXTERIOR

The decks are wide and uncluttered and all maneuvering lines are redirected to the cockpit for easy handling by a couple. The mast is about 17 meters long and has a single deck of spreaders. The mainsail has forged battens and a very pronounced leech on her leech. She has only two winches that control the hoisting, trimming and reefing maneuvers so it couldn’t be easier.

The Lagoon 380 has eight deck hatches and two additional compartments near the mast that provide access to the chain box and integrated electric windlass. The anchor chain runs inside a fiberglass channel that extends from the mast to the transom providing a good platform for anchoring maneuvering.
